14 Bolt Truss Kit

A strong truss for one of the strongest factory housings on the market! This is not a standard I-beam truss, while strong those only welded to one side of the axle. I have seen way too many warped axle housings simply because of that. When you apply a ton of heat to one side without doing the same to the other side what do you guess the odds are that you just warped that housing?

Ours are like all of our trusses for our custom axle housings. Where the weld points are opposed 180 degrees so while welding you are heating both sides of the tubes evenly and minimizing warp! Thats right, we create a torsion box rather than an I-beam. Just another way to add heaps of strength while minimizing weight.

Another thing we do is make the pinion truss bridge part of the package. I do not want to encourage you to weld the housing to the casting only to watch it crack off later, or even worse: warp and crack the casting. The pinion support is also made with oval holes so you can run it with or without a pinion guard.

You have a ton of options like adding a differential cover, pinion guard or disc brake brackets at discounted prices.

Note

  • Truss is bent 3/16 plate.
  • A 14 bolt axle with unequal tube lengths (typically found in GM Vans and 1988 and newer 14 bolts) have a slightly offset differential and will not cover the axle tubes all the way to the flanges but does still fit on the axle.
  • Measures 52 1/2" from end to end

This truss checked all of the boxes I had for my project. It spans the width of the axle tubes which should minimize warping, and all but negate the need to fixture the axle while being welded. It has a large flat which accommodates my triangulated 4 link upper brackets. It has an included (no extra charge) pinion tie-in, which was a key feature I was keen to have. My truck makes big power and I did not want to risk spinning the axle tubes within the center section, and this pinion tie-in helps me do that. I do have a DRW C&C axle which is narrower than the SRW/DRW non-C&C axle so I had to cut down my truss to fit, but that was straight-forward and I knew I would have to do when I purchased it.
