Misalignments allow additional room for the heim joint to pivot, that comes simply from the shape of the misalignment. Another function of misalignment is to serve as a spacer and reducer, this allows the use of a smaller bolt than the bore of the Heim. Misalignment spacer for a 7/8" bore rod end to a 9/16" bolt. Overall mounting width on rod end is 2"
